The Prostate Cancer Research Foundation has a number of bodies that work together to ensure that we are making the best use of all the funds raised for us, and also that we are funding the best research into all aspects of prostate cancer. TrusteesDr Christopher Adams (Chair) Christopher attended the University of Bristol, the University of Oxford and the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania. He has extensive business experience having been a Director, Managing Director or Chief Executive of several companies ranging from a FTSE 100 business to a start-up. The business sectors in which these companies were involved include Commodity Trading, Sugar Refining, Road Transport and Engineering, Residential Property Development, Commercial Property Investment, Leisure, Toys, Cosmetics and Toileteries, General Wholesaling, Commercial and Domestic Electrical Distribution Systems and Burglar Alarms. Christopher was diagnosed and treated for prostate cancer in 2003
Sir Walter was Principal of Hertford College, Oxford from 1996 - 2005 and remains head of the CRUK Cancer & Immunogenetics Laboratory at Oxford University. He was formerly Director-General of the Imperial Cancer Research Fund, having been Director of Research at the Fund from 1979 to 1991. He was made a Fellow of the Royal Society in 1974, and received a knighthood in 1986. In 1997 he was elected an Honorary Fellow of the Royal Statistical Society, and is a Foreign Associate of the US National Academy of Sciences and a Foreign Honorary Member of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences. He has been a trustee of the Prostate Cancer Research Foundaiton since its inception.
Paul Balcombe Paul is a member of the Royal Pharmaceutical Society, and is Involved with many Charitable Organisations (including Council of World Jewish Relief). He is Director and Chairman of several Pharmaceutical Companies, and a keen property Investor.
Lady Bourne Lady Joy Bourne assisted in setting up the Charity in 1991 and in running the biennial Forums. She is Chairman of the Annual Dinner Committee, and is committed to carrying on the work of her late husband Sir Clive, in helping this charity to grow.
Julian Challis (Treasurer) Julian is a partner in H W Fisher & Company Chartered Accountants. He has been with the firm for 35 years and specialises in business advisory services for the medium-sized owner managed business, charities and trusts.
Dr Frank Chinegwundoh Frank is a Consultant Urological Surgeon at Barts and The London NHS Trust and Newham University NHS Trust. Charitable interests also include Cancer Black Care and the Continence Foundation. He is actively engaged in prostate cancer research, and is an associate medical director at Newham. Mr Mark Emberton Mark is a Senior Lecturer in Oncological Urology at the Institute of Urology, University College London and Clinical Director at the Clinical Effectiveness Unit at The Royal College of Surgeons of England. He is an active clinical researcher and teacher with particular interest in minimally invasive methods for treating prostate cancer.
Mr Senthil Nathan Senthil is a Consultant Urologist at the Whittington Hospital NHS Trust, an Honorary Consultant Urologist at the UCLH and runs a private practice in Harley Street. He is an Honorary Senior Lecturer at the Institute of Urology, and is actively involved in research projects into prostate cancer. For more information click here
David Pretty CBE Before his retirement in December 2006, David worked for Barratt Developments plc for 27 years, including 17 years on the Main Board and 4 years as CEO. The current holder of the UK Regeneration Champion of the Year Award (November 2006), he remains very active in the housing and property sector with a special interest in the provision of homes for first time buyers and social housing. He is currently a non-executive director of The Homebuilders Federation and McCarthy and Stone plc, as well as a Trustee of The Prince’s Regeneration Trust. He is also an Appeal Board member at Shelter, the major Homelessness charity.
Robert Prevezer Robert is Chairman of The Communications Agency, who are behind the 'Give a few bob' campaign.
Laurance Racke Laurance has been a Trustee of the foundation since 2003. He has lost close friends to prostate cancer as well as having others who have been diagnosed and successfully treated. Laurance is committed to supporting the work started by Sir Clive and to seeing the foundation continue to grow.
Simon Smith Simon is a consultant at the law firm, Bircham Dyson Bell LLP
Mr Christopher Woodhouse Christopher is a consultant urologist at the Royal Marsden Hospital. His special interest is in reconstruction after cancer surgery, particularly related to bladder cancer. His professorship is in adolescent urology at University College London.
Dr Peter Wrigley Peter qualified from London and Oxford Universities and worked as a consultant medical oncologist at St Bartholomew's Hospital in London for 30 years. He is now retired and lives in North Yorkshire.
