The Role of IGF1R in Prostate Cancer We have already ascertained that IGF1R expression generally persists in prostate cancer metastases, obtained from patients during fixation of pathological hip fracture occurring in the context of androgen-resistance.
Val MacAulay and the team at the John Radcliffe Hospital,
To clarify the role of the IGF1R in androgen resistance per se , we will perform immunohistochemical analysis of IGF1R expression in biopsies of malignant prostatic tissue obtained before and after development of androgen reistance. From the prostate cancer archive we will identify those who had an initial diagnostic biopsy before androgen treatment, (and whose tumours were clinically androgen-sensitive judged by subsequent clinical and PSA response), and who later underwent channel TURP after development of androgen resistance.
